The City of Columbia, Illinois (pop. 10,868), situated minutes from Downtown St. Louis, is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Accounting Manager.
The Accounting Manager performs highly responsible work in directing municipal financial operations involving financial planning, general accounting, administration of the City’s $18MM budget, debt administration, purchasing, receipt collection, accounts payable, payroll, financial records maintenance, account auditing, cash management and investments, and financial reporting within generally accepted accounting principles. The Accounting Manager reports to the City Administrator, and supervises a staff of five.
The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in accounting, finance or other related field (including experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity). Governmental/public sector accounting experience and CPA designation highly desired.
