Western Egyptian Economic Opportunity Council administers the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) which provides a one-time grant (per heating season) that is paid directly to the appropriate utility company or fuel source vendor such as electric, propane, oil and wood. Weatherization

Western Egyptian Economic Opportunity Council administers the Illinois Weatherization Assistance Program (IWAP) which enables low income families to permanently reduce their energy bills by making their homes more energy efficient. On average, weatherization reduces heating bills by 31%. By reducing the energy bills of low income families, weatherization reduces dependency and liberates income for spending on more pressing issues such as food and medicine.
