Fire

The Columbia Fire Department, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1998, consists of 40 state-certified volunteer firemen.

Housed in the city's Public Safety Complex, the department currently owns nine pieces of modern fire fighting equipment, including a ladder truck and tank truck.

Department personnel are trained in many areas of emergency services, including emergency rescue and HAZMAT (hazardous materials).
