Part-Time Police Officers:  Columbia Police Department is currently seeking applicants for two full-time Police Officer positions.  Applicants must be 21-35 yrs. (some exceptions per state law) with a minimum of 64 hours of college credit.  Residency is required within six months of hire, however you may apply for a six month extension for a total of one year.   Applications can be obtained in person at Columbia PD, 1020 North Main, Columbia, IL 62236 starting March 31st.  Applications must be received by May 1, 2017 at noon.  The City of Columbia application that is offered on this page is not the necessary application packet for the Board of Police Commissioners - please do not submit that form or your application will be considered incomplete.  The physical agility test and written examination will take place on May 20, 2017.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Chief: The City of Columbia, Illinois (pop. 9,707) seeks an experienced and dedicated professional to serve as EMS Chief. Under the general direction of the Director of EMS, the EMS Chief manages the day-to-day operations of the EMS Department, which consists of approximately 30 employees and a primary and secondary ALS ambulance.  The successful candidate will have specialized training in emergency medical services (bachelor’s degree preferred) and a minimum of 8 years of experience in EMS with at least 5 years of supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Salary is DOQ with a generous benefits package. Part-Time Summer Help:  The City of Columbia is currently accepting applications for part-time summer help for mowing and general park and street maintenance work, May through August 2017.    Applicants must be 17 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.  Salary is $10.62 per hour.  Application deadline is April 28, 2017, at 4:30 p.m.  The City of Columbia is an EOE/ADA. 
 

Part-Time Code Compliance Officer
: The City of Columbia seeks a part-time Code Compliance Officer.  The position, which works under the supervision of the Building Official, is responsible for performing code enforcement activities such as building and occupancy inspections, identifying nuisance violations, and managing other compliance related matters.  The position requires a minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in building code enforcement, building inspection, or building construction.  Work schedule is 16-24 hours per week, depending on seasonal workload.   Salary is $16.00 - $18.50 per hour.  Employment applications can be obtained at City Hall, 208 S.
