City Clerk

Responsibilities
The City Clerk attends all meetings of the City Council where a quorum of Council members are present and is responsible for keeping records of Minutes of each meeting. A calendar of scheduled Council Meetings is issued annually by this office.

The City Clerk maintains other records, including ordinances, contracts and agreements. The City Clerk is the Freedom of Information Officer for the City, and all requests for information are filed initially with this office. The request is given to the appropriate Department for response, and the response is returned to the customer via the City Clerk.

The City Clerk is the Local Election Official of the City. Packets of Election information and forms are prepared by the Clerk in September prior to the election year and are available to the qualified persons interested in becoming an elected official. These qualified persons who have completed the forms and have the appropriate number of signatures, file for their office in December with the City Clerk. The City Clerk certifies the candidates to the County Clerk, the Election Authority.
